Shift-Peristrophic Multiplexing for High Density Holographic Data Storage

چکیده
Holographic data storage is a promising technology that provides very large data storage capacity, and the multiplexing method plays a significant role in increasing this capacity. Various multiplexing methods have been previously researched. In the present study, we propose a shift-peristrophic multiplexing technique that uses spherical reference waves, and experimentally verify that this method efficiently increases the data capacity. In the proposed method, a series of holograms is recorded with shift multiplexing, in which the recording material is rotated with its axis perpendicular to the material’s surface. By iterating this procedure, multiplicity is shown to improve. This method achieves more than 1 Tbits/inch data density recording. Furthermore, a capacity increase of several TB per disk is expected by maximizing the recording medium performance.

Method for holographic storage using peristrophic multiplexing.
A method of multiplexing holograms by rotating the material or, equivalently, the recording beams is described. Peristropic (Greek for rotation) multiplexing can be combined with other multiplexing methods to increase the storage density of holographic storage systems. Peristrophic multiplexing is experimentally demonstrated with Du Pont's HRF-150 photopolymer film. We multiplexed a total of 29...

The capability of polyvinyl alcohol-acrylamide photopolymer materials to obtain angularly multiplexed holographic gratings has been demonstrated [Appl. Phys. B 76, 851 (2003)]. A combination of two multiplexing methods--peristrophic and angular multiplexing--is used to record 60 holograms. An exposure schedule method is used to optimize the capability of the photopolymerizable holographic mater...
متن کاملMultiplexing holograms for data page storage as a holographic memory in a PVA/AA photopolymer [6912-39]
Holographic data pages were multiplexed in a PVA/acrylamide photopolymer layer. This material is formed of acrylamide photopolymers which are considered interesting materials for recording holographic memories. A liquid crystal device was used to modify the object beam and store the data pages in the material. Objects with different pixel size have been used to simulate the data pages. A perist...

Multiplexed diffraction gratings were recorded in 300 μm thick layers of biophotopol photopolymer by using two peristrophic multiplexing schemes separately and in combination. In addition, it was shown that riboflavin may be used as polymer initiator in acrylamide photopolymer films and the holographic properties of these films such as diffraction efficiency and dynamic range were compared with...
متن کاملHolographic digital data storage using phase- modulated pixels
We propose and demonstrate the use of phase images for holographic data storage. Use of phase images as input leads to uniform diffraction efficiency of multiplexed data pages. Use of binary phase-based data pages with 0 and p phase changes produces uniform spectral distribution at the Fourier plane. This in turn facilitates better recording of higher spatial frequencies. We experimentally demo...
